Y-Type Strainer
Flow-Tek Y-Strainers are designed for applications where solid content is minimal and frequent cleaning is not required. They are commonly used in gaseous services such as steam, air, nitrogen, and natural gas.The compact cylindrical design of the Y-strainer provides strength and durability, allowing it to handle high pressures—often up to 6000 psi. In steam applications, they can withstand high temperatures, with pressures of 1500 psi occurring at 1000°F, ensuring reliable performance under demanding conditions.
A Y-Strainer offers the flexibility of installation in both horizontal and vertical pipelines. For proper operation, the screening element or “leg” must always be positioned on the downstream side of the strainer body, ensuring that trapped solids are effectively collected and retained for easy removal.Flow-Tek heavy-duty Y-Strainers are equipped with high-quality stainless steel screens, precisely fabricated to fit the strainer body. Combined with a precision-machined screen seat, this design prevents bypass and ensures reliable filtration performance.
